OUR PROGRAMS AT A GLANCE

The Canadian Bureau for the Advancement of Music strives to provide affordable and accessible group piano lessons for every elementary student who wishes to learn music. Hourly lessons are a very affordable $16.00 per hour, making this as accessible as possible. Our annual registration, a one-time fee for your convenience is $99.00 which covers the CBAM program in your school for the entire year.  We also provide a family rate for two or more children at $94.00 per child.

The annual registration fee covers the cost of office administration, insurance, processing school board permits, on-going development of eight levels practical and theory curriculum and the syllabus, teacher workshops and training. Included in the annual fee is a school board fee. This fee is paid by CBAM to school boards to process school board permits and for the use of schools for CBAM piano class lessons and recitals.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

Weekly classes last one hour. Minimum enrollment for each child is one full 8-week term. A special CBAM progress report card is issued to each child at the end of each 8-week term. There are approximately four 8-week terms per school year (September to June).

Practice books, performance books, and theory books are provided at an additional cost. Classes take place in familiar elementary school settings, as extracurricular programs. Each student may require a different number of books, depending on their progress. We work hard to make our program interesting and fun and most children enjoy learning in a group environment. Although a piano or keyboard at home is not required at first, it is important to understand that there is a daily need for home practice.

Teachers provide individual attention to one student at a tome at the piano, as other students focus on written theory and educational games and activities. The CBAM Eight Level Theory curriculum progresses systematically.
